Why I Fundraise for "nami" national alliance on mental illness
Welcome to my personal fundraising page for NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness! NAMI is the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to improving the lives of all those affected by mental illness. NAMI provides education, support, advocacy and awareness so that we all live better lives.
I have created this fundraising page because NAMI, and the work they do, is very important to me. Donating through the NAMI page is easy, fast and secure.
I would like to share my story about why mental health awareness is important to me
Roshawn Nicole had a near death experience in 2012, where she was in the intensive care unit for 30 days. Roshawn Nicole struggled with flashbacks, insomnia, depression, anxiety, and addiction due to the inability to cope with the pain of her trauma. At the end of 2020, Roshawn Nicole realized she was living in a vicious cycle and that she desperately needed to seek professional help. She decided to go to treatment for 2 months and that is where she was inspired to write the song, “Wounded Scars.” It was the lyrics in this song that helped Roshawn Nicole to find inner strength and to become an advocate to help break the stigma of mental illness. “Wounded Scars” perfectly captures the realness of her struggles, and tells the story of healing and finding hope. “Wounded Scars” was released on May 1st, 2021 in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month and will be available on all music platforms.
Roshawn Nicole now shares her story and music to churches and other organizations.
Both NAMI and I appreciate your donation.
Thank you so much for your support.
